A Book for Me serves the Richmond, VA Area

Leave a positive impact on the lives of children in low-income neighborhoods by supporting A Book For Me!   We are an educational nonprofit organization in Richmond, VA, that provides children’s books to local elementary and middle schools in the greatest need.

So far, we have donated 12,019 books.  An important aspect of this charity is that the children can own the books we provide, so they do not have to worry about having to return them to a library. By fostering their love of reading, we hope they will develop into lifelong learners exploring new opportunities, especially in higher education.

Our nonprofit was started by Tyler and Cara Crawford, two sisters that have always enjoyed reading. This passion for reading led to a genuine love for learning.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, they saw how many students did not have access to fun and engaging books. In response, they launched A Book For Me to make a difference in the lives of children, especially in school districts of the most need.

They agree that the best thing about what they do is seeing the happiness and excitement on the faces of the kids that they help. This motivates them to collect and donate books to the schools throughout the school year.

A Book For Me focuses on the importance of children owning their books. Our bookmarks encourage kids to "take a book, read a book, share a book, gift a book, keep a book; my book ... my choice!"
